Condensate Return Tests

    Condensate is steam that is changed back to water after being used. The water should have a pH of 7.00 and zero hardness. Practically it is around 1 part per million (ppm).

A calibrated pH meter determines the value of the pH.

Five drops of one solution is added to 25ml of condensate. A tablet is then added and crushed. A purple colour indicates some hardness and then a second solution is added drop by drop till you get a blue colour . Each drop indicates 1 ppm of hardness.
