We booked the trip through
P&O
Ferries. We traveled to Hull in the car and
used the free multi-storey car park at the side of the Quay. We boarded the
Pride of Rotterdam and at 21:00 set sail to Rotterdam. The ship being so big
just cut through the water and we hardly noticed any sea movement. We had
booked an evening meal and breakfast before boarding. The evening meal was a
buffet with a good range of options to suit most pallets. The cabin we were
in was small but none the less, sufficient for our needs. A tour around the
ship revealed a number of shops, Casino, cinema, entertainment/show lounge,
piano bar, (the sundeck was too cold to stay out in April), a cyber area for
computer enthusiasts, A la Carte Restaurant, and more.
07:00 the ships announcement system, gently woke us up with the reminder
of breakfast being served, buffet style. Plenty of choice for breakfast too.
Our boarding cards were marked with a luggage symbol, meaning that our
luggage could be left in the cabin. We got the announcement that we could
leave the ship and made our way to the awaiting busses.
We traveled from Rotterdam to Lisse and hence to Keukenhof. 10:30 we arrived
and given a return time of 16:30. This was sufficient to walk around the
gardens and take it all in.
I would recommend anyone who likes tulips and other spring bulbs to visit
Keukenhof
