How did I perform after my second golf lesson?
Went around the same par 31 golf course at Wombwell with Colin from work and
a lone player joined us. Dave, the lone player had a handicap of 18, and whether
it was due to this I cannot tell, but I scored 50, Colin who had never played
and hired a set of golf clubs managed to go round in 51. Colin was the first to
admit that his actual score would have been higher if we had not been so lenient
with his strokes. Colin impressed me with his use of the one wood and how he
managed to par one of the holes. I think Colin has got the golfing bug.
Had a couple of rounds with Darren and Neil around the same golf course and
the best I managed was 55. My post analysis of the games resulted in several
faults that I knew of.
 | My driving with the 3-wood did not get the distance I would have
imagined and on occasions I was trying to hit the ball rather than swinging
this producing errors. |
 | Pitching onto the green resulted on me hitting the ball such that it
achieved no elevation and thus rolled way past the post. |
 | Putting was somewhat erratic, but then again with having to putt 30 to
40 foot was somewhat understandable. This was due to my pitching errors. |
I also went around the same golf course with Alan my sister's husband and did
a 40 foot putt that placed the ball within a foot of the hole from the semi
rough, well I knew I could not pitch it. I did learn a useful tip from Alan
about using arrows or the name on the ball to align the golf ball to the hole.
This resulted in me actual getting closer to the pin.
