My lesson was split into two parts this week. Part one was with
the three wood and the second part was a lesson on pitching (at my request).

I was standing too far away from the ball and the correct
position should be with my elbows almost touching my stomach when I make a
stance and address the ball. Another error of my is still trying to hit the ball
rather than allow the swing to provide the force needed to propel the ball. My
right arm was bending and thus I was hitting down on the ball (I am using left
handed clubs). We worked a bit more on my swing in particular the transferring
of weight from the left side to the right side. It was not long before Mike had
me more clean shots than those that caught either the heel or toe of the club.
The ball was travelling over the 150 mark and then rolling perhaps another 30
yards. I thought I should be getting further but Mike pointed out that the wind
was coming at us and without it the shots would have gained a further 30 yards.
Nearly forget, Mike had me adjust to a wider stance.

I had noticed that when close to the green I was having
difficulty in pitching the ball and many times the ball just ran without no loft
at all. Time then for Mike to show me how to pitch. With my sand wedge, Mike had
me close up my stance and practice swinging from left to right and the same
distance, but also making contact with the mat, just. A few corrections later
and the end of the lesson looming I had some practice shots and apart from the
distance and slightly to the right. I managed to pitch a couple of balls into
the target ring, situated at about 30-35 yards away.
Mike said I had improved a lot since the first lesson were I had
difficulty in hitting a ball let alone achieving any distance, he laughed when I
said "So you will have me with a handicap of 6 this time next year"?
How did I perform after my Third
lesson
