Totally electrify the rail network

Reopen certain closed routes and extend branch lines to other network sections where feasible.

Offer cheaper night time freight services by using off peak electricity tariffs.

Introduce slower trains collecting at intermediate stations operating in parallel to Intercity trains.

Within the timetable allow certain Intercity trains to collect passengers on route prior to arriving at an Intercity start point.

Allow truly independent operators to run none scheduled passenger services.

Permit more road haulers to operate trains

Introduce motorway to rail terminals to allow similar trains used to carry cars and lorries through the Channel tunnel to reduce motorway congestion.

Consider installing wind generators on suitable sites to supply power to reduce operating costs.

Introduce computer farms to calculate route availability and control to allow greater flexibility of the network, at the same time decentralising control.

Fund research to create a reduction in maintenance costs needed to operate the network.

Reduce the number of changes required that a passenger needs to make on a journey.
